Johnny Osbourne and Sister Nancy - Live at harbourfront, Toronto. Saturday August 5, 2017

Saturday August 5 2017- Johnny Osbourne and Sister Nancy at Harbourfront, Toronto.

The Island Soul Festival returned to Harbourfront this Caribana weekend with performances all weekend. Saturday featured a double bill with reggae legends Johnny Osbourne and Sister Nancy.
Sister Nancy played a short opening set with a few covers and finished with her massive hit “Bam Bam.”

Johnny Osbourne came out to “We're Gonna Rock It Tonight,” the title track of one of Osbourne’s albums on the Jammy's label, which segued into “Murderer.”
Osbourne has recorded numerous albums going back to Studio 1 in the 1960’s. He left Jamaica to live in Canada, shortly after finishing one of his Studio 1 records. He has since moved back, but Johnny Osbourne recorded some fine reggae during his time living in the GTA. He played a few covers mixed in with his own hits including “Ice Cream Lover.”
Osbourne paced himself between dance songs, deep, dread tracks like “Truth and Rights,” and love songs like “On the Right Track.” The band was hot, Osbourne’s voice in fine form, and with a snappy Sister Nancy set to start it all off, this was one the better Harbourfront shows of the season.
